Buttercoin is a decentralized exchange for perpetual futures and spot trading, built on a fully on-chain orderbook.

Trade crypto perps, RWA markets — including 24/7 equity perps like TSLA and NVDA — and meme markets, all from a single wallet. No sign-ups, no custody, no middlemen.

🚀 Quick Start

Go to buttercoin.trade and tap Connect Wallet. Supported wallets: MetaMask and any EVM browser wallet.
Deposit collateral. Hit Deposit and move USDC in from 58+ networks — a direct Arbitrum deposit lands in about a minute; cross-chain routes take a few minutes and are quoted up front with a live countdown. On Robinhood Chain you can fund with USDG. Native-asset routes (ETH etc.) are swapped into USDC automatically as part of the route.
Pick a market. Browse the Perpetuals, RWAs, or Memes tabs, or use search. Star a market to pin it to the front.
Place a trade. Choose size and order type, then confirm. Leverage and margin mode are set per market.
Manage everything from Portfolio (open positions, equity, margin) and History (fills, funding, transfers).

🧈 Tip: start small on your first trade to get a feel for fills, funding, and liquidation levels before sizing up. Minimum order size is $10 notional.

📈 Trading

Perpetual Futures

Perpetuals are futures contracts with no expiry. You can hold a long or short position indefinitely; a funding mechanism keeps the perp price anchored to the underlying index.

Leverage: up to 100x on majors like BTC; each market's maximum is shown on its trading page and adjustable per market.
Collateral: positions are margined in USDC.
Funding: paid peer-to-peer between longs and shorts every 8 hours. When the perp trades above the index, longs pay shorts; below, shorts pay longs. Funding is not a fee collected by the exchange.
Mark price: liquidations and unrealized PnL use a mark price built from the external index and the live orderbook, clamped to a tight band around the index so short-lived wicks can't trigger unfair liquidations.

Margin Modes

Cross margin — your whole account balance backs all cross positions. Capital-efficient, but losses in one position draw on your full balance.

Isolated margin — collateral is assigned to a single position. Your risk on that trade is capped at what you assigned.

Most markets support both. Newly launched community markets are isolated-only by design, so a new listing can never touch the rest of your account.

RWA Markets

Buttercoin lists real-world asset perps — equity perps like TSLA-PERP and NVDA-PERP, index perps like SPX500, gold, oil, and FX — tradable 24/7, even when the underlying market is closed.

Pricing: the index tracks institutional oracle feeds for the underlying. Outside traditional market hours the index continues to update from round-the-clock reference markets.
Corporate actions: splits and similar events are reflected through the index feed so positions track economic reality.
Leverage: RWA markets carry their own limits — typically up to 20x on equities — shown per market.

Note: RWA perps give price exposure only. You do not own the underlying stock or asset and have no shareholder rights or dividends.

Meme Markets

High-volatility meme tokens with risk parameters tuned for their volatility — lower max leverage and higher maintenance margin than majors (typically up to 10x). New community listings launch in a post-only phase and open to full trading once the book is deep enough. Trade them like any other perp; respect the volatility.

Spot Trading

Buttercoin also runs an on-chain spot venue. Buy and sell listed tokens directly from your wallet — no leverage, no funding, no liquidation. Pay in ETH or USDG; quotes are live with a 30-second validity window and re-quote automatically. Available pairs are in the Spot tab. Every listed contract address is verified on-chain before it appears.

Order Types

Live now

Market — execute immediately at the best available price.
Limit — set your price; fills only at that price or better.
Post-only — guaranteed maker; the order is rejected instead of crossing. (Automatic on launch-phase markets.)
Reduce-only — the order can only shrink a position, never flip it.
TWAP — split a large order into timed slices (2–60) over your chosen duration.
Scale / ladder — spread up to 20 limit orders evenly across a price range in one click.
Trailing stop — tracks the price peak and closes your position if price retraces your set percentage.
Take Profit / Stop Loss — attach TP and SL triggers to any open position from the Positions panel. They rest on the venue, trigger on mark price, and keep working even with the app closed.

TWAP and trailing stops run in your browser session — keep the tab open until they finish. TP/SL orders rest on the venue and don't need the tab.

⚠️ Margin & Liquidations

Initial margin is what you post to open a position (position size ÷ leverage).
Maintenance margin is the minimum equity required to keep it open — set per market tier (majors lowest, volatile listings highest).
If account (cross) or position (isolated) equity falls below maintenance margin, the position is closed by the liquidation engine. The liquidation fee is set per market — around 0.6% on majors, up to 1.5% on high-volatility listings.
Insurance fund: liquidation shortfalls are absorbed by an insurance fund so winning traders get paid in full. Community-listed markets each carry their own dedicated insurance fund, isolated from the rest of the venue.
Auto-deleveraging exists as a last resort if a market's insurance fund is exhausted during extreme moves; profitable, high-leverage positions are reduced first.

Your estimated liquidation price is always shown on the order ticket before you confirm, and on each open position.

Unrealized PnL must be settled before it can be withdrawn — settlement is a free, gas-less wallet signature and takes about a minute to finalize.

Portfolio — account equity, open positions, unrealized and 24h PnL, margin usage, account leverage, and one-click PnL settlement.
History — every fill, funding payment, deposit, and withdrawal, with live pending statuses.
Terminal — a single-screen pro layout: full-height chart, order book, order entry, the pro order tools (ladder / TWAP / trailing), and a tabbed drawer for positions, open orders, trades, and balances.
Deposits & withdrawals — move funds any time via the Deposit / Withdraw buttons. Withdrawals settle in about a minute after PnL settlement. There is no withdrawal permission to grant us — moving funds out always requires your own wallet signature.

🔧 Technical

Architecture

Buttercoin pairs a low-latency orderbook matching engine with fully on-chain settlement. Collateral is held in audited on-chain vault contracts — deposits, withdrawals, and PnL settlement are all on-chain operations signed by your wallet.

Oracles

Index and mark prices are sourced from institutional oracle feeds aggregating the major venues for each underlying, with the mark price clamped to a protective band around the index.

API

A public REST + WebSocket API for market makers and bots is on the roadmap. It will cover market data, order placement, and account endpoints.

Security

The exchange is non-custodial end to end: trading uses a scoped session key that cannot move funds; withdrawals and settlement always require your wallet's signature.
The underlying settlement and vault contracts are independently audited at the infrastructure level.
The Buttercoin app completed an internal security review in July 2026 (secrets handling, transaction paths, injection surface, dependency audit).

Do I need an account?
No. Connect a wallet and trade. There is no sign-up, email, or KYC on the protocol.

What collateral can I deposit?
USDC (native USDC on Arbitrum is the fastest route). You can also bridge from 58+ networks or fund with USDG on Robinhood Chain — the route quote handles conversion.

Can I really trade stocks 24/7?
Yes — RWA perps like TSLA-PERP trade around the clock. You're trading price exposure via a perpetual, not the underlying share.

What happens if I get liquidated?
Your position is closed by the liquidation engine and the market's liquidation fee applies. With isolated margin, losses are capped at the collateral assigned to that position.

Why can't I withdraw my profit yet?
Unrealized PnL has to be settled first — a free wallet signature. The app prompts you, and the balance is withdrawable about a minute later.

Are points a token?
No. Points track activity during a season and carry no guaranteed value or conversion.

Is Buttercoin audited?
The settlement and vault contracts underneath the exchange are independently audited. The Buttercoin app itself completed an internal security review in July 2026.
